Today's email also make me laugh in office, really cannot tolerate to laugh....

let's enjoy together:

From my boss (to all department):

Report of food poisoning cases -xmas platter 25.12.08 HC

Dear all,
Regret to inform you that there have been 4 reported food poisoning cases received by HC on the Xmas platter set.

SFB/CD , STO-CS, and QA have taken these incidents seriously to identify the root cause and corrective actions after reviewing the 4 complaint cases happened in the same store on the same date of production.

The root cause was identified : Pathogen: Staph. aureus contamination on food due to cross contamination by careless staff during food handling on 25.12.08 around 1- 5pm production hour.
I have extracted 2 areas from the report for your immediate reading:

(then followed by a report created by herself)

Then, after 30 mins, another e-mail received:

From Store manager, to all departments:

Dear all,

Kindly be informed FEHD inspector came to HC store at around 21:00hrs.

The duty inspector accompanied a medical doctor and a nurse, they have visited Viet Lime (越膳) and SFB kitchen.  Finally they collected some gravy sample from us as the doctor suspected the root cause is Clostridium Perfringens (產氣莢膜梭狀芽孢桿菌) , an article was published by Centre for Food Safety to describe this bacteria vs. food poisoning: http://www.cfs.gov.hk/sc_chi/multimedia/multimedia_pub/files/FSF21_2008-04-16.pdf

Please note that the gravy is supplied by Gastro Primo directly and we have not added any other ingredient in the sauce on our own.

For your information that there are 4 complaint cases received so far, and more than 30 people were affected (reported sick):

Case 1 : 10 people
Case 2 : 9 people
Case 3 : 4 people
Case 4 : 8 people (including a 95 years old lady)

However, the reported customers have all been contacted to extend our sympathy, and offered product refund and / or gift vouchers as form of compensation.

Thank you for your kind attention in this matter.

Regards,
Michael Tsang
Service Manager
Store Operation Division
